Gombe Assembly postpones Commissioner Nominees screening over strike

The Gombe State House of Assembly has postponed the screening of 17 commissioner nominees appointed by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya over the two-day warning strike embarked on Tuesday by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Recall that the Assembly had earlier slated Tuesday to begin the screening five weeks after the governor forwarded the list.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Speaker, Abubakar Mohammed Lugerewo stated that the assembly had postponed its sitting to screen the nominees to Thursday and Friday, respectively due to the strike.

According to the reschedule of the screening, the nominees to be screened on Thursday are: Mijinyawa Ardo Tilde (Funakaye), Asma’u Iganus (Shongom), Lt. Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd) (Balanga), Dr Barnabas Malle (Kaltungo) and Adamu Inuwa Pantami (Gombe).

Others are: Barrister Zubairu Mohammed Umar (Funakaye), Dr Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa (Gombe), Dr Aishatu Umar Maigari and Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri (Akko LGA).

The second batch to be sscreened Friday are: Dr Habu Dahiru (Yamaltu/Deba), Dr Usman Maijama’a Kallamu (Kwami), Mohammed Shettima Gadam (Kwami), Muhammad Gambo Magaji (Dukku).

The remaining are: Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed Aliyu (Yamaltu/Deba), Mohammed Saidu Fawu (Billiri), Saidu Baba Alkali (Nafada) and Sanusi Ahmed Maidala (Akko).
