FUOYE Crisis: NAKSS, AELOGSUP issues Ekiti Govt. 7 Days to meet Demands

*Calls for prosecution of Wife of Ekiti Gov.

*Compensation of affected Families

*Release of arrested Students, others

Following the recent uproar at the Federal University of Oye Ekiti, FUOYE, the National Association of Kwara State Students, NAKSS has condemned the act of shooting on the students which claimed the life of two.

This was contained in a statement signed by the National President of the Association, Adisa-Jaji Azeez and his Director of Public Relation Abdulmumeen Abubakar and made available to CAMPUS FOCUS on Thursday.

According to the statement, the incident which occurred on tuesday, also resulted to some others sustaining injury which includes a member of the association, Sulyman Olalekan.

“The National Association of Kwara State Students, National Headquarters condemn in totality the provocative act of the Nigeria Police Officers that happened to be the aides of the Ekiti State Governor First Lady.

“Our Demands: The police officers that perpetrated this crime must be arrested and prosecuted with immediate effect. “All media houses who have misinformed the general public alleging the students of attacking the convoy should retract the misinformation with immediate effect.

“The wife of the Governor, Mrs. Bisi Fayemi who gave her Police orderlies to shoot the protesting students at sight that left Sulyman Olalekan AKA Dino Melaye injured should be prosecuted with immediate effect. “All medical care expenses which the victim might have incur must be financed by the wife of the state Governor. “Substantial damages must be paid to the victim. “Failure to reflect this sign of responsibility by the Wife of the State Governor and the Nigeria Police, we shall declare both legal and political/social war against the Wife of the Governor and the Nigeria Police.

In the same vein, the Association of Ekiti Local Governments’ Students Union Presidents (AELOGSUP) has issued 7 days to the Ekiti State Government to meet their demands.

The Association in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman Aniyikaye Aduragbemi, the General Secretary Akinyemi Joseph and Senate President Hon Com. Ogunleye Kehinde called for the release of students who where arrested during the protest.

The statement also said the S.A to the Governor on Youth and Student Matters lack the capacity of the office for not been able to prevent the situation.

“We want to state categorically that S.A on Youth And Students matters, to the Governor of Ekiti state, lack capacity of the office he occupied because of his poor performance in office. This kind of incident can be prevented but your poor performance in office accelerated such incident.

“We want the government to react towards our request as stated thus: An end to unjust harrasment of students by security officers agent. “Immediate and unconditional release of the arrested students. “Immediate payment of compensation to the family of the deceased and injured students by ekiti state government. “The electricity they agitate for must be restore to the affected arrears as place on their demand.

“We wish to state without fear that if necessary compensation are not paid to the family of the late comrade ,and the agitators that lost their life, will only give the next 7days for the above condition to be perfected if fail, we shall not hesitate to mobilize aluta forces of our members from various Local Govt, Towns and villages in Ekiti, school chapters of our Union within and outside the state to aggressively demand for justice on the deaths and inhumane treatments meted on our teeming citizens and enlightened members of our Union. “Please accept our condolences, the students heroes who lost their lives while operating in the theatre of struggle continue to rest in peace (Amen).”

AELOGSUP is an association comprising 16 Local Governments Students Union Body and 134 town’s and villages Students organization in Ekiti
