Port Harcourt – Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminanayi Fubara, has expressed his determination to continue doing what is right, despite the ongoing political crisis in the state. The governor stated this during a Christmas Ballad hosted by former Rivers State Governor, Sir Peter Odili, for him and his family.

Governor Fubara, who has been at loggerheads with his predecessor, former Governor Nyesom Wike, over the political leadership of the state, said he is getting stronger daily with the support of the people. He described the support of the people as a source of strength, saying “And not just because I want to accept it, I get stronger in this course every day when I look at the support I am getting from the true Rivers people.”

The governor attributed his strength to the support of the people, saying “So, it is not me being strong. My strength is drawn from everyone of you that is here. You gave me the encouragement; you do the work for me; you make the calls for me. So, why won’t I stand up for you.” He also acknowledged the role of God in his life, saying “But we also believe strongly that the ultimate game changer, the ultimate liberator, and the ultimate fighter still remains God Almighty. And because we have Him on our side, victory is assured.”

Governor Fubara expressed his confidence that with God on his side, the state will emerge stronger and more prosperous. He promised that his administration will make every succeeding year in the state better, with remarkable records of progress. The governor also assured the people that 2025 will be better than what they have experienced, citing the excitement during the Christmas celebrations as an indication of a brighter future ahead.

Former Governor Odili, who hosted the Christmas Ballad, praised Governor Fubara for his leadership qualities, saying he confronted the political challenge, prevented the quest by one man to capture the state as a private estate, emancipated Rivers people, steadied governance, and made civil servants and Rivers people happier.

Justice Mary Odili, who presented gifts to Governor Fubara and his family, praised the governor for his role in emancipating the people of Rivers State. She said “God knew long ago the need for an emancipator and gave Governor Fubara to Rivers State.” She pledged the continuous support of her family to the success of his administration.

The event was attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders, who all expressed their support for Governor Fubara and his administration
