Fresh: Sokoto market gutted by fire

Currently, there is a fire in the Sokoto Central Market, affecting the motorcycle sector.

The fire began early this morning, according to an eyewitness, although its cause has not yet been determined.

A different source, however, said that the Sokoto Central Market fire originated near the motorbike section at a trash site.

In response, Shehu Muhammad, chairman of the Motorcycle Marketers Association, stated that while the fire was still blazing, it was impossible to estimate how many motorcycles had been lost.

“We cannot quantify the number of motorcycles burned down by the fire now because the fire is still raging.

“But many people lost their shops along with their motorcycles because they could not come in time as the fire started around 6 a.m.

“But men from the federal and state fire services are currently battling, but I know it will take some time before they can quench it all,” he said.

Nonetheless, he made a plea to the state administration to assist people who lost their belongings in the fire.
