Dada Yar’adua, the mother of former President Umaru Yar’adua and notable figures including Shehu Yar’adua and Abdulaziz Yar’adua, has died at the age of 102.
She passed away on Monday evening at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina State.
Dada Yar’adua is celebrated for being the mother of several influential Nigerians.
Her children include Umaru Yar’adua, who served as President and was twice governor of Katsina State; Shehu Yar’adua, a former Chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters under President Olusegun Obasanjo’s military regime; and Abdulaziz Yar’adua, the current Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army.
Her death has elicited heartfelt condolences from across the nation.
Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda took a break from his official duties to visit the Yar’adua family and extend his sympathies.
The governor announced that Dada Yar’adua will be buried according to Islamic traditions on Tuesday morning.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed his sadness on X (formerly Twitter), describing Dada Yar’adua as a mother figure and a refuge for many.
He conveyed his condolences to the Yar’adua family and the people of Katsina State, praying for her soul’s eternal peace.
Former Senate President Bukola Saraki also shared his condolences, recalling Dada Yar’adua’s warmth and kindness.
Saraki remembered his last encounter with her as a cherished memory and offered prayers for her soul’s repose in Al Jannah Firdaus.
