Former COED Ilorin, provost, breaks silence, says, ‘I’ve been vindicated’

Former provost of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, Prof. Abdulraheem Yusuf has said he has been vindicated of any financial misappropriation following forensic audit of the account of the institution.

Prof Yusuf stated this in Ilorin on Monday while interacting with the 2019 Students Union Executives of the college in his office.

He said, “the State Auditor has done a forensic audit of every Kobo during my term in office but they came up with nothing. I have the report copies for future reference.

“There’s a lot of witchcraft, witch-hunt and blackmails to bring my administration down, simply because of our team’s commitment to bring expected change to the system.”

Speaking further, he noted that, within three years of his days in office, the college was lifted from degrading rank of 49 to 9th position among the best Colleges of Education in Nigeria.

“But it is unfortunate that, I received a sadden news just last Wednesday that, Ahmadu Bello University is pulling out from IJMB programme being jointly runned with the College as a result of examination malpractices and other irregular academic conducts.”

Prof. Yusuf listed among his achievements; facilitation of different Tetfund projects, new hostels for students, KWCOED Table Water and facilitation of acres of land for farming in Ilesha-Baruba community in Barutean Local Government Area of Kwara State among his achievements while in office.

“We were able to achieve that feat, because it’s our responsibility as a father to design a better future for the coming generation. We are very concerned today that, those legacies we have carefully laid down will not be disrupted unconsciously,” he added.

While appreciating the former Student Union leaders ably led by ex- Students Union president, Comr. Akanbi Muhammad Shitta, he advised them not to relent in their efforts to further their education in order to transform Nigeria.
