Palestinian officials reported that Israeli troops killed five Palestinians, including two women, in a pre-dawn raid on a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday.
The fatalities occurred when Israeli forces raided the Tulkarem camp in the northern West Bank, according to Faisal Salamah, head of the camp’s popular committee.
An activist at the camp confirmed the death toll. The Israeli military has not yet commented on the incident.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported treating a 30-year-old man for bullet wounds to the abdomen, thigh, and hand, as well as three women for shrapnel wounds, one of whom was injured in the eye.
According to the Palestinian official News Agency Wafa, more than 25 military vehicles, including bulldozers, stormed the camp, using rubble to block off its narrow alleys.
Tulkarem is known as a hub of Palestinian militant activity and is frequently targeted in Israeli raids.
Violence in the West Bank has escalated since Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel triggered a war in Gaza.
At least 579 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers in the territory since the conflict began, according to figures from the health ministry.
