The Kwara State Fire Service swiftly responded to a fire outbreak following a collision on the Otte-Ogbomosho-Bode Saadu Expressway in Kwara State.
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at approximately 8:12 AM.
According to Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the Head of Media and Publicity for the Kwara State Fire Service, the fire erupted after a bus carrying cosmetic products collided with a truck that had overturned earlier.
The truck was loaded with perfumes and honey, which fueled the blaze.
The fire service, which arrived promptly, took swift action to control the situation. The firefighters successfully extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading and causing further damage.
The statement from the Kwara State Fire Service noted that the truck had tipped over on Monday, and the collision with the bus on Thursday triggered the fire.
Despite the intensity of the blaze, the firefighters’ timely intervention ensured that the fire was contained, and no additional harm was caused.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service urged all road users to exercise caution and prioritise safety while driving.
He emphasised that such incidents could be prevented with careful driving and adherence to traffic regulations.
