The Federal Government has been praised for its execution of projects in Delta State, specifically in the education sector.
The commendation came from the children of the late Chief George Agbaike during the handover of newly constructed classroom blocks to Eweri Primary School and Urie Primary School, both located in Emede, Isoko South Local Government Area.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Johnson Agbaike, a Public Relations Officer at Government House, Asaba, expressed his joy at the Federal Government’s involvement in state projects.
He stated, “As an individual, it is a thing of immense joy for me to be here to hand over these projects, which were facilitated by my elder brothers, Dr. Jerry Agbaike and Engr. Gabriel Agbaike, two officials of the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC).”
Mr. Agbaike praised the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his efforts in the education sector but emphasised that collaboration is essential.
“Our Governor is doing well in the execution of projects in the education sector, but he cannot do it alone. That is why we are happy that the Federal Government, through UBEC, executed these projects,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to his brothers for continuing their father’s legacy, saying, “I thank my brothers, Dr. Jerry Agbaike and Engr. Gabriel Agbaike, for keeping the legacy of our father, Chief George Agbaike, who was a renowned educationist in the then Bendel State.
“I thank them especially for remembering our hometown, Emede, and I urge our people to attract more projects to Emede.”
The projects include a block of two classrooms at Eweri Primary School and another block of two classrooms at Urie Primary School, both tastefully furnished and powered by solar energy.
“We hope that UBEC will bring more of these projects to our people,” Mr. Agbaike added, as he officially handed over the projects to UBEC representatives.
Receiving the classroom blocks, Engr. Nelson Oyaigbevwen expressed gratitude to the Agbaike family for facilitating the projects.
He acknowledged that the projects were completed according to specifications and urged the Emede community and schools to protect and properly use the facilities.
During the occasion, the President General of Emede Community, Mr. Reuben Udogbo, expressed his appreciation to the Agbaike family and the Federal Government.
“This is the first of its kind, and we are grateful to the Agbaikes. We thank the Federal Government and UBEC,” he stated.
Mrs. Edafe Muno and Mrs. Ukeghe, who represented the headmistresses of the primary schools, assured UBEC officials that the facilities would be well-maintained and used effectively.
