Ex-Minister Shittu Backs Tinubu’s Vehicle, Security Cuts

By Olumide Olusegun

Former Minister of Communication Adebayo Shittu has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s decision to limit Ministers to three vehicles and five security personnel.

In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today Programme on Tuesday, Shittu acknowledged the need for security due to the political exposure of Ministers.

He stated that while a minister requires security, having three vehicles is reasonable.

Shittu emphasized the importance of having an extra vehicle for emergencies, saying, “Three vehicles is not too small, and it’s not too much. I support Mr. President in limiting the convoy of Ministers.”

“A minister, by virtue of his position, would require a security attachment because they have been politically exposed. And you can’t leave someone who was appointed to the mercy of evil members of society.

“Every minister going on assignment must have an extra vehicle. In case the main vehicle breaks down, there must be another one to get him out of harm’s way, and of course, a minister would have security personnel. I think three (vehicles) is not too small as a number, and it is not too much.”
