Ex-Minister Saleh Mamman Remanded in Kuje Prison over N33 Billion Fraud Charges

Former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, has been remanded in Kuje prison by the Federal High Court in Abuja following his arraignment on a 12-count money laundering charge.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleges Mamman’s involvement in fraudulent activities amounting to N33 billion, which he pleaded not guilty to.

During the court proceedings, Mamman collapsed outside the courtroom but was resuscitated by the Federal High Court’s medical personnel.

Despite his health scare, Mamman appeared in court and confirmed he was fit enough to continue with the arraignment.

Justice James Omotosho ordered Mamman’s remand in Kuje prison and set a hearing for his bail application on Friday.

The EFCC’s charges against Mamman stem from allegations of financial misconduct involving significant sums intended for the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects.
