The Governing Board of National Telescope Newspaper has confirmed the appointment of former Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, as the Chairman of its Patrons Board.
The appointment was confirmed in a letter signed by the Governing Board Chairman, Capt. David Olusegun A. (rtd.), and presented by Administrative Secretary, Deaconess Odekola Deborah during a courtesy visit on Monday.
Before serving as Minister of Communication, Shittu made history as the youngest member ever elected to the Oyo State House of Assembly at age 26.
His impressive career also includes his current position having been appointed by President Bola Tinubu as Chairman of the Governing Council at the Federal University of Medical Science in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
In the confirmation letter, the Governing Board expressed confidence in Shittu’s appointment, highlighting his extensive experience and dedication to both journalism and community service.
The letter noted, “We believe your leadership will significantly enhance the board’s mission to promote quality journalism and support the growth of the National Telescope Newspaper.
“We look forward to your guidance in steering the board towards fostering a vibrant and impactful media landscape and enterprise.
“We trust that your insights and vision will help us navigate the challenges ahead and seize the opportunities for growth and innovation.”
In addition to Shittu’s appointment, the board also announced Christiana Pam as Patron and Administrative Secretary of the Patrons Board.

Pam, a lecturer at the Department of Communication Arts at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, will bring her academic expertise to the board’s operations, enhancing its strategic and administrative functions.
The Patrons Board is a newly established body, a strategic move by the National Telescope Newspaper to bolster its leadership, development and further its mission in the evolving media landscape.
According to the Governing Board, the pioneer leadership of the Patrons Board will be leading the affairs of the Board for the next three years while status of all Patrons is lifetime.
