DELTA: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ethiope Federal Constituency has reaffirmed its political stronghold in Delta State, dismissing the opposition’s influence and passing a vote of confidence on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

At the inauguration of the constituency’s PDP Forum executive in Oghara, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, assured party faithful that the recent defection of Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu would not weaken the PDP’s grip. He insisted that the party would reclaim the seat and maintain its dominance ahead of the 2027 elections.

“The presence of our leaders from Ethiope East and West here today is a clear message: the PDP is in full control, and APC will remain politically insignificant in Delta,” Guwor said. He praised Oborevwori’s achievements in infrastructure and governance, urging party members to rally behind his administration.

State PDP Chairman, High Chief Solomon Arenyeka, reinforced the party’s strength, stating that those who left would return after the elections. “Governor Oborevwori’s leadership has strengthened the party, and under the guidance of Chief Dr. Ighoyota Amori, we will continue to lead,” he added.

Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, described Ethiope Federal Constituency as a PDP stronghold, stressing that defectors had made political miscalculations. Chief John Oguma, a PDP leader from Ughelli South, dismissed APC’s influence as mere “social media noise,” assuring that PDP would reclaim lost senatorial seats in 2027.

Senator Ighoyota Amori, chairman of the Ethiope PDP Forum, declared that APC had no chance in the constituency and that Ibori-Suenu would not return to office under any party. He announced plans for a mega rally in Oghara to showcase the party’s strength.

Former House of Representatives member Rt. Hon. Ben Igbakpa moved the motion for a vote of confidence in Oborevwori, seconded by Akpowowo and formally affirmed by Guwor. The gathering, attended by top political figures from 22 wards, further solidified PDP’s hold on Ethiope Federal Constituency.
