The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has criticized Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for allegedly instigating a crisis within the peaceful state. They expressed concern that the governor’s purported plans to alter the state’s demography by importing Fulanis could lead to unrest.
In a statement issued by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, the group voiced strong opposition to the establishment of Fulani settlements in Enugu State under Governor Mbah’s administration. They warned that such actions would be met with resistance from IPOB and the wider Igbo community.
“The alarming agenda of Governor Peter Mbah and his associate Friday Nnaji to introduce foreign Fulani Muslims into Mbu community, Isi Uzo LGA of Enugu State, has come to the attention of IPOB,” stated Emma Powerful. “This move to change the indigenous population’s makeup will not be tolerated.”
The statement further accused Governor Mbah of colluding with the Fulani movement, specifically MACBAN, to implement a Fulani settlement scheme in Enugu State. IPOB asserted that the Enforcement of Sovereign Nations (ESN) has been thwarting these plans and warned of the consequences of disrupting the peace in Enugu.
IPOB emphasized that while individuals have the right to practice their chosen faith, imposing it on entire communities is unacceptable. They urged Governor Mbah and Friday Nnaji to reconsider their actions, cautioning that IPOB would not permit any forced demographic changes in the region.
IPOB called on Governor Mbah’s advisors and relatives to counsel him against pursuing policies that could destabilize Enugu State. They reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the integrity and identity of Alaigbo (Igbo Land) against external influences.
