A non-governmental organisation (NGO) known as All Workers Convergence (AWC), has called on Nigerians to bring an end to cyber fraud popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo and other related crimes.
Yahoo Yahoo which has recently become a top rated criminal act ravaging the country at the moment is more popular among the youths and teenagers.
Many of which have been accompanied with the act ritual killings also known as Yahoo plus.
Recently, a 17 years old boy alongside 3 other teenagers were arrested by the Ogun State Police Command over the killing and beheading of a girl, Rofiat for ritual purpose in Oke-Aregba area of Abeokuta.
Meanwhile, the NGO in a statement signed by its Convener, Comrade Andrew Emelieze and made available to NATIONAL TELESCOPE at the weekend frowned at the ruinous act.
The statement read in full:
“A LETTER TO SCAMMERS : REVERSE THE TREND NOW.
We just have to tell ourselves the truth. We can’t continue to deceive ourselves. Almost all within us promotes this ignoble culture. Almost all is waiting for our turn to hammer. Abound talents trying to eke out a living , a reflection of compulsion, most times also a band wagon effect. All, victims of prevailing want, and in some instances, a product of greed, meanness and wickedness.
“A lost priority, be it in public or in our private lives. Supported by most around us, even our music reflects it , Our religion is not speared.. The reigns of opportunism. A dog eat dog situation. Really very disgraceful.A regression to backwardness and a very irritating phenomenon that promotes laziness .What message are we sending? What lessons for those coming behind us ? Are we ready for the aftermath ? All against the other ! False hope and real danger. We develop symbols. The dreads were real symbols of protest and rebellion but now pirated. A scorn that makes our ancestors wail. Yes Bob Marley is truly wailing with this predicament. Peter Tosh is feeling abused in his grave. Max Romeo is feeling misrepresented.. What wiil Majek Fashek say to us ? Yes, we are under pressure but Ras Kimono says it is no reason to loose orientation. What vanity as we are tagged ? SARS had battered us for this flimsy excuse. Imagery in bad light. We are pursued everywhere. Our own are detained and imprisoned. Yes some smile to the bank but others cry over our joy; is that the essence ? This talents can be better organized. There is no justification for all these. We cannot continue to destroy our collective heritage. Our humaness must be preserved. This culture must stop. Together we can stop this fraud. No society survives this way. Our science and technology is calling us to order. Industrialization cannot strive on fraud. We can demand for good world only when equity reigns.
“We must end this shameful barbarism. We can stop this trade. Our energies can be better utilized. Our talents must count positively. We cannot see ourselves as prey. End the ritual killings .We just have to end this eclipse. The illicit venture that takes us nowhere.
