In commemoration of the 2023 Eid-el-Fitri, which marks the end of Ramadan, the Christian Association of Nigeria, Former Senate President of the 8th National Assembly and other Nigerians has felicitated with Muslim faithful across the country.

The CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, in a statement on Friday said both religion must use our understanding of the holy books to build unity and tolerance.

It read, “We extend our warmest greetings and felicitations to the President-General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the entire Muslim Ummah in Nigeria. We rejoice with them and pray that the blessings of God will be with them now and always.

“Islam and Christianity share a lot of good virtues in common and we must use our understanding of the holy books to promote inclusivity, and work towards building a more tolerant and egalitarian society for us all.”

Similarly, Saraki in a statement posted on his Facebook handle said there is a need to sustain the humility and patriotism in the country.

He said, “This year’s Ramadan has come and gone and while we pray that all of us should witness the next one in good health, we need to consciously work on becoming better Muslims, better citizens, and better individuals who are working to give a good account to Almighty Allah (SWT) on the Day of Judgement.

“That is why we have to find a way to sustain the values of piety, tolerance, humility, good neighbourliness, honesty, and patriotism in our daily lives.

I urge us all to reflect on the teachings of Islam and the lessons learned during Ramadan in our activities as citizens of this great country. This is the only way we can save our country.

“We must not cease praying for our country. This is a great country that Almighty Allah (SWT) has blessed with all the necessary materials for her greatness. We have to do our part for the manifest destiny of our country to be realised.

“While I pray to Almighty Allah (SWT) to help us break all the jinx holding our country down, I call on Allah (SWT) to protect all our men and women in the security agencies who are at the frontlines confronting the enemies. May Allah (SWT) give them victory over the enemy and heal our land.”
