The Federal Government has announced Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
In his message, Dr. Tunji-Ojo congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of their Ramadan fast and extended his warm wishes to all Nigerians celebrating the festival.
He urged Muslims to embrace the virtues of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace during the festivities, highlighting the importance of love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering a harmonious society.
A statement from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, emphasized the Minister’s call for Nigerians to use this period for prayers, seeking peace, stability, and prosperity for the nation. Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed hope that the joy of Eid-el-Fitr would inspire unity, cooperation, and understanding among Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic backgrounds.
The Minister also urged citizens to celebrate responsibly, while keeping the less privileged in mind through acts of charity, aligning with the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his heartfelt Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim faithful, praying that the blessings of this season bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to every Nigerian.
