EFCC declares ex-Kogi Gov, Bello wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a public notice declaring former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, as wanted for his alleged involvement in economic and financial crimes amounting to a staggering sum of N80.2 billion.

Recalled that the EFCC had earlier said that the embattled former governor was whisked away from his Abuja residence by his successor, Governor Usman Ododo, on Wednesday when the anti-graft agency went to arrest him.

Ex-Governor Yahaya Bello, who served as the governor of Kogi State during a previous administration, is now under the scrutiny of the EFCC for purportedly engaging in activities that contravene financial regulations and ethical standards.

According to the EFCC’s statement, individuals possessing any information regarding the whereabouts of Yahaya Bello are urged to come forward and report immediately to the Commission or the nearest Police Station. The EFCC has emphasized the importance of cooperation from the public in apprehending individuals suspected of financial misconduct.

The declaration of ex-Governor Yahaya Bello as wanted by the EFCC underscores the commission’s commitment to combatting corruption and holding public officials accountable for their actions. It signals a significant step in the ongoing efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and the rule of law within Nigeria’s governance framework.

As the EFCC intensifies its efforts to address economic crimes and corruption, the public’s cooperation in providing relevant information is crucial in facilitating investigations and ensuring that justice is served.

The announcement of ex-Governor Yahaya Bello’s status as wanted by the EFCC serves as a reminder of the imperative to uphold ethical standards and adhere to legal regulations in all financial dealings, particularly within the realm of public service.
