EFCC Chairman appoints Chief of Staff and Zonal Directors

The Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ola Olukoyede has appointed Mr. Michael Nzekwe as his Chief of Staff and designated Zonal Directors for the 14 Zonal Commands of the Commission.

Nzekwe, renowned investigator and former Commander of the Ilorin Zonal Command, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With a background in law and extensive service within the Commission, including in Legal, Operations, Internal Affairs, Servicom, and Asset Forfeiture departments, Nzekwe’s appointment reinforces the Commission’s commitment to excellence.

As part of the restructuring efforts, all Zonal Commands have been elevated to the status of Departments, each led by a Director. Additionally, the Security Unit has been upgraded to a Department, with a seasoned officer appointed as Director, Security and Chief Security Officer.

Furthermore, a new department has been established to drive the preventive mandate of the EFCC. The Fraud Risk Assessment and Control Department will focus on this crucial aspect of the Commission’s work, with operations already underway.

Olukoyede emphasizes that these changes are aimed at repositioning and strengthening the EFCC to effectively fulfill its mandate.”
