The Acting Zonal Director of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Harry Erin, commended the Nigerian Army for its support in tackling economic and financial crimes.
During a visit to the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Oluwafemi D. Williams, Erin stressed the significance of inter-agency collaboration in effectively combating corruption.
He particularly highlighted the army’s crucial role in addressing illegal mining activities within the state.
Erin also recalled the substantial amount of seized solid minerals, valued at millions of Naira, currently under the Commission’s custody, underscoring the necessity to curb the illicit transportation of these minerals abroad.
Brigadier General Williams affirmed the army’s commitment to closely collaborate with the EFCC to combat corruption and other criminal activities.
Furthermore, Erin advocated for cooperation with the Nigerian Customs Service to tackle issues such as money laundering and the smuggling of illegally mined minerals across borders.
Customs Area Comptroller, Faith M. Ojeifo commended the EFCC’s endeavours in combating economic crimes and assured ongoing collaboration between the two agencies to uphold the nation’s economic integrity.
