A devastating highway robbery occurred on the Ife/Osu highway in Osun State, leaving a driver shot and a female passenger raped.
According to a passenger who witnessed the incident, “The robbers attacked two vehicles, a bus and a private car, and collected various sums of money from us. They shot the driver of the bus and raped a woman in the car.”
The passenger, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added, “They made us transfer various amounts into their account and handed our ATM cards to one of the gang members. Some passengers fled into the bush, and security men were mobilized to the area, leading to the arrest of one suspect.”
Osun Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Giwa-Alade, confirmed the incident and the arrest of a suspect.
“The incident happened, and we were able to apprehend one suspect. He is helping our investigation.”
