Gunshots were reported near the vicinity of former U.S. President Donald Trump, his campaign has confirmed.
In a statement released by Trump’s campaign spokesperson, Steven Cheung, he assured the public of the ex-president’s safety.
“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time,” Cheung said.
According to reports from the New York Post, two individuals exchanged gunfire outside Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
While the incident raised concerns, the gunfire was not believed to have been aimed at Trump, the outlet confirmed.
US media reports indicated that Trump was on the golf course when the shooting occurred, which is located not far from his Mar-a-Lago residence.
This incident comes on the heels of an earlier assassination attempt on July 13th in Butler, Pennsylvania.
During a rally, gunman Thomas Crooks fired multiple shots at Trump, with one bullet grazing the former president’s ear.
