Delta Thrives Without Borrowing Under my Leadership – Oborevwori

By Chuks Peter, DELTA

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State announced that the state has enjoyed peace and progress without borrowing in the first year of his administration, despite the challenging times.

He made these remarks during the 1st Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 34 Headquarters, Unity Model Parish, Asaba.

Oborevwori stated, “God has been faithful in the affairs of the state. People outside this state don’t realise the peace and progress we are experiencing.

“Even in these hard times in Nigeria, Delta State has not borrowed in the past year. You can see that members of the State House of Assembly are thriving.

“I have assured them that we will match the initiatives of other states, as they are crucial partners in the administration of the state”, he added.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, expressed gratitude for God’s infinite mercy over the Assembly members and celebrated the one-year anniversary of the 8th Assembly, inaugurated on June 13, 2023.

He said, “Governor Oborevwori understands the workings of the State House of Assembly, leading to a robust partnership with the Executive.

“My colleagues respect the House leadership, resulting in significant cooperation among members. I thank them for their support and partnership.”

Guwor also praised Deltans for electing capable representatives to the 8th Assembly. “We have received 18 bills, both Executive and Private Member bills. Out of these, nine have been passed, and three have already been assented to,” he added.

In his sermon, Pastor Olufemi Olumide of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Asaba, emphasised that thanksgiving is key to opening all doors.

He commended the 8th House of Assembly for their appreciation through thanksgiving, noting that “the 8th Assembly is unique as it represents a new beginning in the state’s legislative affairs, allowing Christ to be at the centre of state affairs.”

The thanksgiving service saw attendance from notable figures, including the Governor’s wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori; Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme; immediate past Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro; State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Kingsley Esiso; Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi; and Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi of the House of Representatives.
