The Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education has announced the postponement of the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which was originally scheduled to begin on Monday, June 3.
The examination has been deferred until further notice.
The postponement is attributed to the nationwide strike called by the Organised Labour due to the Federal Government’s failure to reach an agreement regarding the new national minimum wage.
The Ministry’s statement also indicated a contingency plan: if the strike does not take place, the BECE will commence on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
The Ministry expressed regret for any inconvenience the postponement may cause to students, parents, and educators.
