DELTA: Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to student welfare and educational development, pledging continued support to ease the challenges faced by students.
During a courtesy visit by the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU) at the Government House in Asaba, Oborevwori assured that his government is working to provide the necessary institutional support to ensure students complete their education without unnecessary financial burdens.
The meeting reaffirmed the state government’s resolve to strengthen its engagement with student communities, ensuring policies that prioritize their welfare and educational growth.
“We understand the struggles students face, and we are committed to making education accessible and affordable. Our administration will continue to create policies that support learning and student development,” the governor stated.
He also addressed concerns about study leave policies affecting government employees, noting that some workers had been removed from the payroll while furthering their education. He assured that his government is reviewing the matter to ensure fairness.
In a gesture of support for student leadership, Governor Oborevwori announced the donation of a brand-new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) to the NANS Global President, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, in recognition of his dedication to student affairs.
Reacting to the governor’s generosity, Comrade Emonefe expressed gratitude, describing Oborevwori as a leader who genuinely understands the challenges of Nigerian students.
“The governor has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to student welfare. We appreciate his support and will continue to work towards a more united and progressive student body,” Emonefe said.
