Nigerian music superstar, Davido, has thrown his weight behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, in the upcoming Edo governorship election.
“The next governor of my mother’s homeland,” Davido posted on Instagram, sharing a photo of Ighodalo.
Davido’s mother hails from Edo State, adding a personal touch to the endorsement.
“I’m proud to support Asue Ighodalo, a leader who shares my vision for a better Edo State,” Davido said.
The endorsement comes just days before the election and is expected to resonate with younger voters.
“With millions of social media followers, Davido’s support could significantly impact the election narrative,” said a political analyst.
Ighodalo has also received support from other high-profile figures, including Banky W, Adesua Etomi, and former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“Davido’s influence will mobilize young voters and contribute to the momentum building behind my campaign,” Ighodalo said.
The Edo governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, September 21.
