Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), extolled Bishop David Abioye during a retirement valedictory service at the church’s Goshen location in Abuja.
Oyedepo noted that throughout Abioye’s more than 40 years in ministry, he never faced struggles.
Oyedepo recognized Abioye’s steadfast dedication and grace, noting, “The celebrant today has never struggled for anything; good things have always followed him.” He emphasized that Abioye’s presence in his life was divinely orchestrated.
Bishop Abioye, who served as the Senior Pastor of Living Faith Church in Goshen City, first met Oyedepo in 1979. He later led one of the church’s earliest branches and was consecrated as a bishop in 1993 at the age of 32. His retirement, alongside Vice President Thomas Aremu, aligns with the church’s operational guidelines known as The Mandate.
During the service, Oyedepo delivered a sermon titled “Understanding the Potency of Blessings,” asserting that divine blessings far outweigh human skills. He reiterated that the church’s success stems from the Liberation Mandate, which he characterized as a divine plan.
Pastor Faith Oyedepo reminisced about their early days and Abioye’s long-standing support, saying, “From our humble beginnings to where we are today, it’s been a testament to God’s faithfulness over the past 40 years.”
Pastor Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, commended Abioye for his selfless service, stating, “Bishop Abioye’s life exemplifies making a difference beyond just making a living.”
Archbishop John Praise, presiding over Dominion Chapel International Churches, praised Abioye’s exceptional humility, asserting, “In all my years, I have never seen anyone serve with such grace.”
In his response, Bishop Abioye expressed gratitude for serving under Oyedepo, emphasizing that his ministry has always focused on fulfilling divine purpose rather than personal ambition.
He reflected on their nearly 45-year relationship, saying, “This bond has profoundly shaped my ministry and life. With God’s guidance, we will continue this journey post-retirement.”
