Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, has refuted claims that he owns a house in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
During a media parley at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, on Sunday, Dangote revealed that the house he resides in while in Abuja is not his personal property. Instead, he rents it.
Dangote reiterated his commitment to industrialising Nigeria, stating that this goal has driven his decision not to own homes outside the country.
He revealed that he once owned a house in London but sold it in 1996. “My focus on industrialisation in Nigeria has led me to prioritise investments in the country over owning properties abroad,” he explained.
Dangote expressed his passion for the Nigerian dream, stating that apart from his houses in Lagos and Kano, he does not own any other properties.
His daughter, Fatima Dangote, praised her father’s unwavering dedication to Nigeria, saying, “I have not seen anyone as hardworking as my father; sometimes I wonder how he never gives up.
“I wish we had a few more men like my father in Nigeria. The country would be a better place.”
