Crime Reporters Association Of Nigeria, CRAN, Akwa Ibom State Branch has consoled with the state police Command over the death of CP Waheed Ayilara, who passed on a fortnight ago.
State Chairman of the group, Solomon Okpo, who spoke when the group paid a condolence visit to the command Tuesday, September 10, described the death of Mr Ayilara as tragic and a colossal loss to the state command and Nigeria’s security architecture.
He said the state witnessed a downward trajectory in criminality through increased fight against criminality, under the deceased, even as he prayed for the repose of his soul.
He prayed for fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss and God’s protection over the command.
Responding, ACP E. A. Ebong, while appreciating the journalists for their concern and prayers, solicited continued support and collaboration by ways of crime reporting.
According to him, the late Police Boss was not just a commissioner, but a father and mentor, and his death left a painful scar in the mind of the command.
”’ I’m yet to overcome the shock and embrace the reality that he is dead. He was friendly, jovial and inspiring. I will not forget him in a hurry” said ACP Ebong.
Present during the condolence visit was the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Timfon John.
In the CRAN team were Raymond Ekpe, Paulinus Nta, Mfonobong Ukpong, Idorenyin Umoh and Uduak Akai.
