Covid-19: KWSG lauds Kwara Poly for Donation

The Kwara State Government has lauded Management of Kwara Polytechnic, Ilorin for donating to the fight against Covid-19 in the state.

The Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, who is also the Chairman State Covid-19 Technical Committee, gave the commendation while receiving Kwara State Polytechnic team which donated two pedal-operated handwashing machines to the state government.

In a Statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Modupe Joel on Wednesday, 15th April, 2020, the Deputy Governor described the innovation as laudable in light of the World Health Organisation(WHO) prescription of regular hand washing to prevent Coronavirus infection and recommended the device for adoption by hospitals and offices.

Responding, Kwara State Polytechnic Rector, Engineer Doctor Abdul Jimoh disclosed that the initiative is that of the staff of Mechanical Engineering department of the School.

While explaining the functions of the machines, the Rector noted that the pedal-operated hand washing machine was invented to minimise the chances of infection. He said the machine has two pedals; the left side which dispenses soap while the right dispenses water.

The State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adat Modibbo Kawu, led the Polytechnic’s team to the office of the Deputy Governor.
