In a hearing on Monday, Justice O. Adetujoye of the Oyo State High Court, Fiat Court 5, Ibadan, returned the case file involving Mukaila Lamidi, also known as Auxiliary, to the state’s Chief Judge for reassignment.
Lamidi, a former Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of Oyo’s Park Management System, faces 17 charges, including armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of firearms.
The case, labeled suit number I/74c/2024, was scheduled for a hearing on Monday.
However, Justice Adetujoye decided to return the case to the Chief Judge after the counsels could not agree on whether the court should handle two separate cases involving Lamidi.
The charges stem from alleged offenses in two different locations: one at the residence of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan on May 29, 2020, and another in Igboora during the 2023 campaign period.
During the proceedings, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), S.O. Adeoye, indicated no objection to both cases being heard by the same court.
However, Lamidi’s counsel, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Olalekan Ojo, requested that the cases be handled by different courts.
Justice Adetujoye subsequently ruled that the case concerning Ibadan could be reassigned, while her court would retain the Igboora-related charges due to her jurisdictional assignment.
