Court Remands #EndBadGovernance Protesters in Kuje Prison

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the remand of protesters involved in the recent #EndBadGovernance demonstration at Kuje Correctional Center until a ruling on their bail application, scheduled for September 11, 2024.

The decision came after the protesters pleaded not guilty to a six-count charge brought against them by the Federal Government, including allegations related to terrorism.

During the court session, the defense counsel made an oral application for bail.

However, the prosecution, led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Simon Lough, opposed the request, arguing that some of the charges against the defendants carry capital punishment.

Justice Nwite then adjourned the case to September 11, 2024, when a decision on the bail application will be made.
