A 27-year-old, palm wine tapper, Winma Chinecherem, has been remanded in prison for allegedly raping to death an 80-year-old woman, Felicia Aderibigbe.
Chinecherem, was charged to an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court by the police, on a one-count murder charge.
According to the Police Prosecutor, Nelson Akintimehin, the accused committed the offence on May 17, 2023 at about 10: pm at Ago Erinje via Costian Ore, Ondo State.
He explained that Chinecherem tied the woman with cloth on her cocoa farm and raped her to death.
The trial Chief Magistrate, Musa Al-Yunus, however, remanded the accused at the correctional custody in Ondo for legal advice.
The case till October 2, 2023 for further hearing.
