Accident Bureau confirms Ibadan private jet crash-land

Accident Investigation Bureau and Consumer Protection has confirmed crash-land of a private jet which occurred on Friday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

About 10 people were onboard when the jet with registration N580KR, overshot the runway at the Ladoke Akintola Airport.

Firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria were immediately deployed to the scene.

It will be recalled that in November 2023, the Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, and nine of his aides narrowly escaped death when their jet crash-land in Ibadan.

Reacting, the Director of Accident Investigation Bureau and Consumer Protection, Wunmi Oladeji, confirmed the incident to The Punch correspondent but declined further comment.

She said, “A team of investigators are already here in Ibadan. I may not be able to give you details until after their findings. So far I have your contact, I will get back to you.”

Though there was no record of death as all the passengers on board were timely rescued, unconfirmed reports said the passengers were in town to attend a party.
