President Muhammadu Buhari has commissioned a 3000-capacity ultra-modern custodial centre in Janguza, Kano state.
The spokesperson of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Abubakar Umar made the disclosure in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, the President stated that his administration has constructed six such custodial facilities in the six geopolitical zones.
“The new custodial centre will reduce government expenditure on logistics as the stress of transporting inmates to and from courts is abated, as the facility is equipped with court facilities for speedy dispensation of justice.
“The facility is critical at this time. I have no doubt that the incoming government, which is also progressive, will sustain the tempo of improvement.”
