The management of the University of Ilorin has resumed its scholarship grant to deserving students popularly known as scholars.
This information was made known to members of the university community in a Press Release dated November 27, 2017 and signed by the Public Relations Officer of Unilorin Student Union, Comrade Oyewumi Muftau Bidemi (MYT).
According to the report, the reason for the suspension of the grant was due to circumstances beyond the school’s strength. The Student Union goes further to claim that scholars for the 2014/2015 session have received their own share of the largesse.
“The privilege was withheld due to some circumstances beyond school strength but, as at today, we want to make it known to the public that 2014/2015 scholars have received the disbursement and subsequently, others will have the fruits of their labour as we call it”.
In another development, Unilorin has made it to the Semi-final stage at the ongoing All Nigeria Universities Debate Competition.
This was disclosed by the Students Union in a Press release made available to Campus Focus on Monday.
According to the statement, three out of four of the University team made it to the elimination round after competing and winning 9 preliminary rounds in the Competition.
“Three (3) out of four (4) Unilorin teams have made it to the next rounds after a very hectic and engaging nine (9) preliminary rounds.
“2 out of the 3 Unilorin teams also made it to the Quarter finals, while the remaining team will compete in the partial Octo finals.”
The statement however stated further that 3 Students representing the institution in the Public Speaking category of the Competition have also qualified for the final stage.
Recall that Unilorin last year claimed Champion of the championship at the Convenant University which is now been defended at the ongoing 5th championship currently holding at University of Port Harcourt.
