Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been apprehended by the Benin Republic Immigration Service at the Seme border. Sources indicate he was attempting to leave Nigeria unnoticed during passport checks.
It was gathered that Bobrisky was detained at midnight and has since been transported back to Lagos.
The official revealed he had handed his passport to someone for stamping, leading to his identification and subsequent arrest.
The exact reasons for his detention remain unclear, but Bobrisky is currently under investigation by a committee in the House of Representatives, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service regarding allegations of bribery.
A social media influencer, Martins Ortse (aka VeryDarkMan), previously released an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have paid N15 million to EFCC officials to dismiss money laundering charges against him, a claim Bobrisky has denied.
He was also summoned by the House of Representatives for questioning but failed to appear.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Immigration Service has confirmed the arrest of Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, at the Seme Border yesterday.
Kenneth Udo, the Service’s Public Relations Officer, stated that Bobrisky was apprehended as “a person of interest in recent public concerns.”
In a statement released in Abuja, Udo said, “To uphold its commitment to border security, the Nigeria Immigration Service intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, also known as Bobrisky, while he attempted to leave the country.
“He is currently undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further action. The Service assures the public of its dedication to maintaining professionalism in its border management duties.”
