Asari Dokubo Accuses Tinubu of Betrayal After Campaign Investment

Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has publicly accused President Bola Tinubu of betrayal, claiming he was abandoned after investing heavily in Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign.

In a viral video, Dokubo expressed his disappointment, stating he emptied his bank account to secure votes for Tinubu, only to feel neglected afterward.

Dokubo announced plans to shift his political allegiance toward the Northern region, distancing himself from Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

He acknowledged a past relationship with the President but criticized Tinubu’s current actions, saying, “The Tinubu I know now isn’t the Tinubu I used to know.”

He urged young Nigerians to reconsider alliances, saying, “We will start that same alliance with the North.”

Dokubo previously emphasized he was not seeking a government appointment but was committed to supporting those who sacrificed for Tinubu’s election.

His sentiments reflect a growing discontent among some political supporters as the administration approaches its next electoral cycle.
