Popular Nigerian’s Afro beat singer, Oyinkosola Serah, aka Ayra Starr has issued an apology to music legend, Sunny Ade for any perceived disrespect during a recent event at the Afrozons-Heineken Pre-Grammy party in Lagos.
In a video that went viral, Ayra Starr was seen greeting Burna Boy’s mother, Bose Ogulu, and shaking hands with Sunny Ade, which some deemed disrespectful and inappropriate. This incident sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with many accusing Ayra Starr of being disrespectful.
In response, the artist took to her Instagram X page on Saturday to apologize, stating that she never intended to disrespect anyone, as she expressed regret for any misunderstanding.
She said, “I’m so sorry, I had just walked in and all the lights and nerves didn’t let me see but i came back around to greet everyone properly, I have never been that girl to be disrespectful, I’m a proper Yoruba girlllll and the video didn’t start until after I’d greeted burna’s mom! I’m very sorry to the legend, uncle and King Sunny Ade”.
