Army Rescues Pregnant Chibok Girl Decades After

Troops of the Nigerian Army stationed in the North-East region have successfully rescued Lydia Simon one of the abducted students from Chibok Secondary School.  

This was disclosed in a statement released bythe Department of Army Public Relations on Friday.  

The statement read, “Lydia, who was on serial number 68 among the abducted missing Chibok Secondary School girls, was rescued along with her three children by troops conducting Operation Desert Sanity III, around Ngoshe in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. Lydia was five months pregnant at the time of her rescue and claimed to be from Pemi Town in Chibok.”. 

Out of the 271 students abducted by Boko Haram insurgents, 57 girls escaped in 2014. Additionally, 103 students were released with the help of the federal government; 20 were freed through state government efforts, leaving 92 students still in captivity. 

In a recent update, troops engaged in counter-insurgency efforts in the North Central region achieved a significant victory on Tuesday.

According to reports, they conducted a successful ambush in Tse Kpese Community, located in Zaki Biam Local Government Area of Benue State, resulting in the neutralization of three terrorists.

Among the items confiscated from the terrorists were three AK-47 rifles and four magazines.
