Army Neutralises IPOB Bomb Expert in Imo

In a joint operation involving the Army, alongside sister security services and other agencies, an Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) expert affiliated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), has been neutralised in Orsu-Ihitteukwa, Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

During a clearance operation in Udaah, Identa Ihitteukwa, and Awo Idemili in Orsu LGA of Imo State, troops encountered armed dissidents who engaged them with gunfire, hand-held IEDs, and locally made rockets (Ogbunigwe).

According to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, spokesperson for the Army, as troops advanced, several IEDs were detonated by the dissidents. During the confrontation, one of the dissidents was neutralized while attempting to connect an explosive to its power source.

Recovered items include locally made rocket launchers, defused IEDs, pipes, wires, and other materials used in the production of explosives. Additionally, troops identified and covered several ditches used as obstacles on the roads linking the communities by the ESN elements.”

“The Nigerian Army will continue to conduct its operations to deter the irredentist from freedom of action,” he assured.
