In a brief statement posted on X.com (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Suleman stated, “You all stop calling my phone. Forgiveness is not memory loss! Status quo maintained!”
This statement follows Abubakar’s public apology in which she acknowledged that her earlier comments about Suleman were “false and hurtful.”
In her Instagram post, she expressed remorse for the pain her allegations caused and requested forgiveness from Suleman and his family.
Abubakar attributed her past actions to poor judgment, explaining that her apology was prompted by “deep reflection and conscience.”
The controversy dates back to 2022 when Abubakar claimed on social media that she had a romantic relationship with Suleman, leading to threats of legal action from the cleric for defamation.
In 2023, she escalated her claims by alleging that she had been pregnant three times with Suleman’s child.
In April, a Federal Capital Territory High Court ordered Abubakar to pay N10 million in damages for her derogatory comments and issued a restraining order against her from making further defamatory statements about Suleman.
The court also mandated that she publish a retraction of her claims on her Instagram account.
