Chief Ayirimi Emami, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, asserted on Wednesday that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not responsible for the current hardship and hunger affecting Nigerians.
According to Emami, these issues were inherited by President Tinubu.
Chief Emami made these remarks while speaking to journalists during the Ologbotsere Day Celebration in Ubeji, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
He stated that hunger and hardship are part of the challenges President Tinubu inherited upon taking office.
“Hunger is not caused by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is a problem he inherited,” Chief Emami stated.
While acknowledging the widespread suffering across the country, Chief Emami stressed that the hunger crisis stems from the “wrong foundation” President Tinubu inherited and is now struggling to rectify.
Chief Emami also discussed the planned nationwide protest against hunger, noting that while protest is a fundamental aspect of any democracy, the manner in which the organisers are approaching it is not ideal.
He urged the organisers to exercise caution and maintain peace during their protests.
“Anything contrary to that makes your planned protest become stupid,” Chief Emami said.
He warned against allowing the protest to be hijacked by other interests.
Chief Emami also highlighted that the president is actively working on strategies to tackle hunger and improve the welfare of citizens, ensuring they live in satisfaction
