Anxiety as DSS, Cultists clashes at NANS Convention

The ongoing National Convention of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), was marred with unrest after gunshots was heard outside the venue of the event in Abuja on thursday, December 3, 2020.

It was gathered that the situation became tensed when some suspected cultist attempted to distrupt the convention process during the accreditation of representatives across the country by the Convention Planning Committee.

CAMPUS FOCUS gathered from a reliable source that operatives of the Department Of State Security (DSS) however stormed the venue of the convention and in a bid to ensure normalcy gun shots were fired into the air.

Speaking to CAMPUS FOCUS in a phone chat, one of the participants who doubles as the Chairman NANS Kwara State Axis, Comr. Salami Wasiu Onidugbé who confirmed the incident disclosed that normalcy has been restored.

He said “Yes we heard gun shot and it was outside the venue, we are inside and everything is fine here. I think it’s an issue between DSS and some people. But right now the convention process is going on fine.”

The NANS Convention is expected to usher in new National Executives for the apex Student body in Nigeria.
