As Christmas celebrations get underway, the Ondo State Amotekun Corps has taken proactive steps to ensure a safe and peaceful holiday season for residents. In a bid to curb crime and maintain law and order, the corps has arrested 29 suspects for various offenses, ranging from rape and burglary to attempted murder.

According to the state Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the arrests were made possible through intensified patrols and intelligence gathering across the state. The corps has been working tirelessly to prevent crime and ensure that residents can celebrate Christmas without fear of harm.

Among the suspects arrested is a notorious member of a vehicle and motorcycle theft syndicate, who had been disassembling stolen vehicles and selling them as scrap outside the state. A serial house-breaker, who had been jailed twice in the last three years, was also apprehended, just two weeks after his release from the correctional facility.

In a disturbing case, a 16-year-old student confessed to raping his 24-year-old neighbor at knifepoint. The suspect, Ajana Oluwa, expressed remorse for his actions, stating that the crime was unprovoked.

Another suspect, Borokini Ayodeji, a 25-year-old Eiye cultist, admitted to stealing from a hospital due to hunger. Ayodeji, a trained tailor, revealed his struggles with poverty and lack of support to establish his craft.

The Amotekun Commander assured residents that the corps is committed to maintaining peace and curbing criminal activities, particularly during the festive season. With no incidents of kidnapping.
