Aladja Grammar School Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Three-Day Grand Event

Aladja Grammar School, located in the Aladja community of Udu Local Government Area in Delta State, is gearing up to celebrate its 50th anniversary in grand style.

The school, which has been a beacon of academic excellence for five decades, will host a series of events from Friday, September 27 to Sunday, September 29, 2024, to commemorate this important milestone.

During a press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, the school’s president, Mr. Andrew Okrakene, outlined the activities planned for the three-day celebration.

“Day one will feature an interactive session with students, as well as a commemorative road walk by the alumni,” Okrakene announced.

He further explained that the second day would be filled with educational and celebratory activities, including a lecture series with distinguished speakers such as Professors G.G. Darah, Jomata Igben, Godfrey Akpojotor, and Mr. Egedegbe Edewor. This will be followed by a luncheon, an award ceremony, and a fundraising event aimed at supporting the school’s development.

“Day three will bring the celebration to a close with a thanksgiving service at Holy Trinity African Church, Aladja,” Okrakene added.

Reflecting on the significance of the golden jubilee, Okrakene stated, “This 50th anniversary is more than just a celebration for our school. It’s a reflection of the positive impact quality education has had on our community and the nation as a whole.”

He stated that the school has produced numerous notable alumni, including state governors, federal legislators, commissioners, professors, and successful entrepreneurs.

The event is also an opportunity to raise funds for crucial school projects. Okrakene noted that one of the primary goals of the fundraising efforts will be to secure the school’s premises by constructing a fence, ensuring a safer environment for current and future students.
