Akpabio, Fubara trade words amid tears at Wigwe’s burial

The atmosphere was filled with sorrow as tears flowed on Saturday at the final burial of Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, Dr Herbert Wigwe, wife, Chizoba, and son Chizi in his Omueke hometown in Isiokpo, Rivers State.

Before their remains were laid to rest, a funeral service was held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Some of the prominent members present at the event are the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, Governors Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers); Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) and Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Founder and Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote; former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi: 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Meanwhile, Senate President Godwill Akpabio and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara traded words in their separate address during the service.

Fubara who raised concern over the increasing political power struggle among the political class said politicians should learn and put an end to the needless struggle to acquire power.

He said, “It is about the political class. What is all this struggle about? Why are we resorting to violence and suppression?|You want to kill, you want to bury, what is it all about?
Reacting, Akpabio who narrated his personal experience while struggling to be deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, urged the governor not to engage in political struggle if there is nothing important to gain from it.
He said, “What is the struggle all about? I will answer you. The struggle, we are not talking politics.

“If there truly is nothing significant to be gained from this struggle, then I urge you not to engage in it.”
