Ak’Ibom to Launch Food Security Initiative

As part of the Agricultural Revolution component of the ARISE Agenda, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced plans to inaugurate a food security committee to drive its implementation.

Governor Eno made this disclosure while speaking at the establishment of a Professorial Chair in Soil Science in honour of Professor Trenchard Ibia, who recently retired from service.

The event was organised by the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources Management at the University of Uyo.

The Governor noted that professionals like Professor Ibia will be integral to the committee, ensuring the successful realisation of the food security goals.

He congratulated Professor Ibia on the honour bestowed upon him by the Department and the University, describing it as a well-deserved recognition.

Eno also expressed his gratitude for Professor Ibia’s contributions during his governorship campaign, particularly highlighting his role in shaping the economic development blueprint, the ARISE Agenda.

Governor Eno, as an alumnus of the University of Uyo, also expressed his commitment to fostering a strong partnership with the institution and collaborating with other professionals for the advancement of Akwa Ibom State.
