In a vibrant ceremony held at the Gym Hall on November 18, 2023, the Ajasin University Ibadan Campus ushered in the freshmen of the 2024/2025 academic session with an enlightening orientation program.
Sen. Ismael Opeyemi, affectionately known as Mr. Smile and the Students’ Union President, set the tone for the event, emphasizing personal responsibility and resilience. “The ball is in your court,” he declared, urging students to confront challenges head-on and persevere, assuring them that success awaits at the end of the journey.
The arrival of the school’s Provost, lecturers, and non-academic staff added gravitas to the occasion. The H.O.D of the English Language department took the podium to acknowledge their presence.
The Dean of Students’ Affairs underscored the uniqueness of the campus, emphasizing its status as a missionary institution that upholds religious values. He urged freshers to take their financial commitments seriously.
Mr. Badiru, Chairman of the Lecturers Forum, stressed the importance of punctuality and regular attendance for those aspiring to achieve a first-class degree.
Dr. Adesewa, a lecturer, emphasized the significance of embracing good virtues and approaching academic pursuits with dedication.
Prof. Taiwo, the Provost, recognized special dignitaries and Students’ Union Representatives. He informed students about the impending NUC visit and reassured them that Ibadan Campus would participate in the NYSC program, providing guidelines for its realization.
Addressing concerns about payments, Prof. Taiwo cautioned students against delays that could affect exam eligibility and advised prudent financial management.
Highlighting the need for decency in dressing, he mentioned departmental wear, especially during exams. Prof. Taiwo encouraged students to avoid sexual immorality, recognizing its potential to hinder future goals. The Provost also announced the opening of a suggestion box for student feedback.
In concluding remarks, Prof. Taiwo shared vital information, including full-time and part-time student fees and the imminent convocation of the first set of Ibadan Campus students this year. He opened the floor to student questions, fostering an interactive conclusion to the informative session.
