A’Ibom upgrades generator – powered boreholes in rural communities

As part of measure towards improved water supply in rural communities, the Akwa Ibom State Government has commenced the upgrading of all electricity generator-powered boreholes to Solar.
Enobong Mbobo, commissioner of Rural Development dropped the hint while commissioning a mini water project, donated by one , Princess Emem Essien to Anyam Nsit community, at the Village Council hall, in Nsit Ibom LGA.

The Commissioner, who said government was desirous of having improved and efficient water supply for rural dwellers said, with Solar power the suffering of Community members caused by hike in cost of fuel and other negative effects of using generators to power the boreholes will be reduced.

Mrs. Mbobo said since rural development is a major plank of the ARISE Agenda, of the state government, Governor Umo Eno is leaving no stone unturned in executing projects that will ameliorate the condition of living in the rural community, such as improving water supply in the communities.

She expressed gratitude to Princess Emem Essien for keying into the ARISE Agenda development blueprint of Governor Umo Eno with the donation of the Water project.

The commissioner urged the community members and the youths in particular to protect the water project from vandalization and called on public spirited individuals to emulate the kind gesture of Princess Emem Essien by contributing their quota towards the development of their communities and the State at large.

Earlier, the Donor of the mini water project Princess Emem Essien had said the project was donated by her in conjunction with her outfit Panache Empowerment Global as part of effort towards furthering the cause of humanity in her community.

Princess Emem Essien who was represented at the occasion by Stanley Mba, Akwa Ibom State Co-ordinator, Panache Empowerment Group and Abia State Chapter Chairman, said the water project commissioning exercise was in commemoration of her birthday and expressed deep gratitude to God for her life and all the guests at the occasion for honouring the invitation especially the Commissioner for Water Resources, Mrs. Enobong Mbobo.

The event was attended by the village Head of Anyam Nsit, Eteidung Nse Akpan as well as the executives and members of Panache Empowerment Group, Akwa Ibom and Abia State Chapters.
